Three modes
Each mode runs on its own tip and handles a different kind of treatment.
DBD C®
Spreads plasma energy across a large area, without pain and without any sensation of heat. This is the mode for recovery, post-treatment work and plasmaporation — a temporary increase in the penetration of active ingredients.
DBD H®
The tip works in direct contact with the skin and holds a constant discharge distance. Hybrid mode meters the dose separately at every point. AAMS states this as a world-first.
Micro-arc
Professionals only
A thermal mode, intended for removing skin irregularities. It is operated only by staff with the appropriate training and knowledge of treatment protocols — in AAMS materials this tip is directed at physicians.
Applications
Used immediately after a laser treatment: faster healing, reduced inflammation and antimicrobial protection of the wound. Of all the applications of cold plasma, this one has the strongest support in the research.
In two randomised trials, cold plasma improved the colour and texture of keloid scars (n = 18) and stretch marks (n = 23). Scar volume did not change.
Cold plasma does not damage the epidermal barrier and does not dry the skin. Skin temperature during treatment stays in the 37–38 °C range.
Plasmaporation temporarily and reversibly increases the penetration of active ingredients. In a study on human skin, niacinamide penetration was around 60 times higher than without treatment; the barrier returns to baseline within 3 hours.
Technology
The device ionises ordinary air from your treatment room. There are no cylinders and no cartridges sold separately, so the cost of one treatment is your time and the product you use.
Plasma is the fourth state of matter — a partially ionised gas in which reactive oxygen and nitrogen species do the work. In non-thermal mode they act on the skin without damaging tissue.
The other half of the treatment
Plasma Gun® does not remove ink or pigment — the laser does that. Cold plasma works with what is left afterwards: the wound and the scar.
