The LaserPair LP-GTY glasses protect the operator of an Nd:YAG Q-switched laser at both of its wavelengths: 532 nm and 1064 nm. The filter works in two bands, 180–532 nm and 900–1080 nm, with OD5+ protection in each, to EN 207.
The orange absorptive filter transmits about 22 % of visible light. That is workable in a well-lit treatment room, but the manufacturer advises raising the room lighting when transmission falls below 20 %.

Description
What OD means
Optical density (OD) states how many times the filter attenuates the beam. It is the base-10 logarithm of the ratio between the power striking the filter and the power leaving it, so each step is another factor of ten. OD5+ means the light power passing through the filter is at least 100 000 times lower (10⁵).
The LB scale numbers (LB1 to LB10) state the power or energy density the filter withstands under a direct hit for at least 5 seconds or 50 pulses. They only mean something together with the wavelength range and the laser mode: D (continuous), I (pulsed), R (giant pulse, Q-switch) or M (mode-locked).

Use and care
Before work, check that the laser wavelength and mode fall within the range marked on the filter or frame. Never look into the beam, even with the glasses on. Damaged, scratched or discoloured glasses must be withdrawn from use at once.
Clean with water or a neutral lens cleaner, never alcohol or alkaline agents, ideally with the supplied cloth. Store in the case at room temperature, away from sunlight, UV radiation and humidity. The manufacturer recommends a service life of up to 3 years, 5 years at most, depending on use, cleaning and storage.
